Ugh. I'm really hoping the episode is nothing like the way they're marketing it. ~Irene Adler, Sherlock's fridged woman!~ Blech!
Tangentally, we've seen this Sherlock to be very sympathetic towards other women/characters/survivors but we don't see him war-pathing for them. What makes Irene so special? If the answer is indeed love, then give me some serious character meat on Sherlock and love.
I am hopeful that the episode will be something else because other promos have been inaccurate or misleading in content and tone. As an example, they used a different take for Holmes's last line in the promo for "Dirty Laundry" - JLM's tone & demeanor plus the background music in the promo gave me a very different impression, a humorous reading of the implication that Holmes is always OK as opposed to the subtly sadder or darker one that concluded the episode.
I find this sort of viewer manipulation annoying and after watching the one for 1x12 decided to try to avoid watching promos until after the episode airs. but having no will power, I'll probably fail and then be annoyed again...
AFAIC, Irene ain't dead. No way. We're talking about THE Woman here. Know what I mean? Unless proven otherwise, I'm thinking she faked her death but Sherlock very much believes she's dead.
Not convinced this is Moriarty. Still holding onto the idea that this is Moran and there's going to be a big "Moriarty" reveal at the end of the episode that we'll have to wait 2 weeks for elaboration on.
Or perhaps it's someone altogether. Who even knows with this delightful show.
as for me it wasn't moriarty (i'm pretty sure it is moran), & i also think irene is not really dead it's so odd to see how much sherlock cares about irene... anyway, if it is about revenge or not, i guess irene/sherlock story is only begins

She said that what if it's not Moriarty, but instead Mycroft?
