Yes, I wonder where they're going with Bell. He's so great! And we definitely need more Alfredo.
I really enjoyed this episode over all. It was slightly less predictable than most of season two, and Joan was even more flawless than usual :) Now for the hiatus!
I was glad to see Alfredo too, and that Sherlock's addiction isn't being handled like House's.
Heh. I used to describe Elementary as "Did you like House? Now what if House was solving actual crimes and Wilson was played by an attractive Asian woman?"
My suspicion, because it is CBS and CBS is all about endless bad cop conspiracies, is that Bell is being invited into an area of the police dept that might go rogue.
I wish the case itself had been a bit more difficult. It seems like the standard pot boiler on this show is "Sherlock and Watson interview several people early on and whoever seems least guilty in the first ten minutes will be reveal as a killer in the last ten". I had Weiss pegged as the killer as soon as I knew he did charitable work for Holocaust survivors.
The b story of Sherlock becoming a sponsor was nicely done.
Glad to see Alfredo back and Randall could be interesting. I loved Holmes's very formal, very guarded, meeting with Randall when he agrees to sponsor him (is sponsee really a term anyone uses?). If we're stuck with the addiction story line for this whole show, at least occasionally it's tied to plot and relationships. I even thought the negative aspects of "the program" came through--the lecturing, the manipulation, the entrapment that Holmes faces in a web of equivocation and trade-offs. I'm waiting for them to tie this to his bdsm proclivities from the pilot.
The crime story this week was so insubstantial that they could have focused only on relationships and given the case of the week a miss. I do love the settings and the continued excellent photography of the city, though.
I'm sorry, but I just wish Bell would disappear. More Gregson! Maybe sidelining Bell to shadowy office work--I really thought at first he was going to be sucked into Internal Affairs--will give Gregson more visibility during investigations.

Date: 2013-12-13 01:00 pm (UTC)I already love Randall, and he's just had two lines. I can't wait to see more of this storyline.
And I hope Bell will get better soon, because seeing him hurt is soul-destroying. ;_;
