I didn't see too much of a difference between the leaked pilot and the actual episode. I think a few lines were cut here and there, but they didn't recast anyone or make huge changes.
Fairly nonspoilery review and thoughts...
I liked it.
I think that Lucy and Jonny work very well together, which is a plus. If they didn't mesh, it wouldn't end up being a good show, no matter how well-written it is, you know?
I like that Sherlock is all tattoo'd (I swear I saw a 221B on his left shoulder, which, to my knowledge, is not one of Jonny's own tattoos like the rest of them are) and has chest fur. He has bees! He's damaged, he doesn't quite fit in. He can be abrasive, but if you operated the way he does, you'd probably be that way too. He at least makes an attempt to seem slightly more normal than he is, though most of the attempts don't go over so well. Unlike Benedict's Sherlock, who is an arrogant asshole that needs to make sure you know how smart he is, Jonny's Sherlock tones it down. He's just as smart, but he doesn't broadcast it with nearly as much glee. Jonny's Sherlock seems older than Benedict's to me.
Lucy... She has that disapproving Watson glare down perfectly. She doesn't really take too much of Sherlock's crap. What he does and how he does it seems to surprise her, but she doesn't broadcast it as much, mainly because she probably thinks it would inflate his ego. She's damaged too. I get the feeling she's trying to make up for what she's done in the past by trying to 'save' Sherlock.
I hate Sherlock's scarf. I want it to go away. It doesn't match the rest of his wardrobe and that is driving me nuts.
I really enjoyed it. This was my first time seeing it. I had seen someone who liked the show overall saying they didn't like the case they were working on, but I actually thought it was rather clever, though not perfect.
As for the actors I thought they were both quite good. I liked how Sherlock is annoying and self-centered but not so much so that I couldn't stand him, and I thought Liu's Watson struck a good balance between being puzzled by Sherlock and standing up for herself. I also liked how she actively helped as opposed to being passive and admiring of Sherlock.
I can't compare it to any other adaptations because to be honest I haven't watched any. But I'll definitely be tuning in next week.
I didn't see a ton of difference between the leaked pilot and 1x01 proper either. So yay! :)
Anyhoo, still loving it.
I wholeheartedly agree with killerweasel's assessment of JLM's Sherlock vs. Benedict's, particularly in regards to the arrogance. *nods* I also love that Joan is more than willing to put him in his place and doesn't worship the ground he walks on.
Personally, I love scruffy!JLM!Sherlock. I think it's sexy. And I think he's better-looking. :D

P.S. I HATE THE SCARF TOO. Apparently they're going for scruffy, not androgynously sexy like with Cumberbatch. :)
