I never got a sense that Joan was blamed for the break-up. If she was blamed for anything, it was for being nousy and prying into the break-up when she wasn't ask - and even that was mild.

Who honestly leaves their money to their pets?

It's been known to happen - and it resulted in the kind of problems the episode touched on

Looking back on that first sentence I realize that I should have said blaming herself, rather than being blamed for the breaking up. Either way, the whole thing was stupid. As to the pet being the heir to an estate I thought always belonged to stories from Agatha Christie and the like. Oh,well..
