I was so excited that the characters were further developed -- with Holmes' backstory with drugs and Scotland yard, Joan's relationships outside of Holmes and the police, and the really touching scene with Gregson where he told Holmes he knew that Holmes was a recovering addict. ♥ Also really adored the nonlinear storytelling.
and then later after she saved him and she was all "are you trying to take credit for the fact that I saved your life? And so soon after you promoted me to bodyguard" JOAAAAANNNNNNN ♥
I loved it! I liked how the friendship between Watson and Holmes is growing in each episode. Great scene between Gregson and Holmes very touching, shows an emotional depth and vulnerablity that you don't get a chance to see with most versions of Sherlock. The last scene between Watson and Holmes was great as well you can tell they are understanding each other better.
GOSH I AM IN ABSOLUTE LOVE i'm probably going to babble but
I loved how Joan kept texting Sherlock and how that was what saved him in the end. I loved that Joan was hesitant about telling Gregson the whole thing. I loved that she decided to do so because it was the best choice to find Sherlock. I loved that she didn't let Sherlock take credit for saving his life. I loved that she told Sherlock that she had to tell Gregson to ask for his help. I loved that she advised Sherlock to go and talk to Gregson. I LOVED THAT HE ACTUALLY WENT AND TALKED TO GREGSON. I loved that Gregson already knew because of course.
I loved that whole scene because dear god was it so emotionally powerful and I just. Sherlock and his way of trying to explain and of course he was ashamed and he didn't want to admit it but he wanted to tell him just he didn't exactly know how, because that's how he is, he wants to reach out but he doesn't always know how to do so. I loved Gregson and how he manages to understand what Sherlock is trying to say, how he waited for Sherlock to talk about it. I LOVED BOTH THEIR EYES BECAUSE WAS IT ME OR THEY BOTH WERE A LITTLE TEARY?
gosh I love these two's relationship so very much
and Joan was flawless, as always. ABSOLUTELY FLAWLESS I AM SO IN LOVE WITH THIS LADY SHE IS GREAT.
Showing off my Canadianess here, but OMG Luke Kirby! It was fun to see him kicking around as Watson's sketchy love interest.
As usual the character beats were the most interesting ones. I liked that they fleshed out Gregson some more, if only the could do the same with the other black cop.
This episode was exceptional, and I literally had to pause to just squeal incoherently. Joan deducing her dates is a think i need to happen all the time, as is Holmes bizarre text habits. I felt befrft there was so little Bell, but the Gregson scene at the end (aka surprise feelings) more than made up for it. The 'everyone in finance is a psychopath' theme is possible the best thing I've ever seen on tv.
Also, was I the only one who thout the very last secen, where Watson and Holmes are having their touching moment while Holmes is in handcuffs more erotic then it was probably meant to be?
This was hands down the best episode so far. Now I am looking forward to the next episode :)
I loved Gregson here he is definitely the sort of friend that Holmes needs. However, I did not like Watson in this episode. She just proved how much she does not know Holmes at all...her text interpretations notwithstanding.
