Part 1: Sherlock
For Sherlock Holmes the day had begun like any other. He got up, ate breakfast, and read some old case files that his friend Captain Gregson had given him the night before. It wasn't until there was a knock on his door that things went from normal to strange. Very strange.
"Are you Sherlock Holmes?" The man standing outside his door asked. "I am," Sherlock replied. "May I ask, who you might be?"
The man shrugged. "My name is Jackson. I was hired to deliver this." He handed Sherlock a large envelope and started to walk away when Sherlock asked; "Who hired you?"
But Jackson shook his head. "I'm sorry, Mr. Holmes but my employer wishes to remain anonymous. Have a nice day." With that said, Jackson left Sherlock alone on the front steps of the brownstone with nothing but a large envelope and more then a few questions that needed answers. And since he couldn't get any answers from Jackson, Sherlock decided that he would open the envelope and read the letter.
Now, Sherlock was not by nature a nervous man. Still, it didn't hurt to take precautions. So after washing his hands while whistling the overture to Carmen, he then put on a pair of latex gloves. Only when that was done ,did he open the letter which read in part:
To Whom It May Concern,
In light of recent events-and this may shock Watson to read this; I have decided to write a guide-book of sorts for the future generations of my family who may wish to take on my profession someday. Fair warning; if you do- be you a man or a woman know this: The life of a consulting detective is not an easy or glamorous one. Despite whatever nonsense Watson may put in his stories.
It is a life full of highs and lows, but one I do hope dear family member, that you will take on someday. In closing I remain,
Faithfully Yours:
Sherlock Holmes
The date Sherlock noticed was April 6, 1922. Along with the letter there was a large file with the letter M on it. What could it mean?" He wondered. This was one case Holmes knew he couldn't handle alone. He needed help. He needed to call Joan.
