The end scene with Joan's present.I didn't notice it when watching live; I saw it in a gif set on Tumblr later, but it hit Sherlock RIGHT IN THE FEELS. *nods* Does that particular poem have meaning for him, or was he THAT MOVED by the act, I wonder?
I took it that the poem had meaning for him -- while his drug addiction may have been 'lovely, dark, and deep', he now has 'promises to keep' to Watson, Alfredo, Gregson, to himself... to stay sober. And he still has 'miles to go' in his continuing struggle to stay sober. Maybe that reading's too literal, but I did find it very moving and thought it fit the moment really well. I'm sure he was also moved that Joan had found something that resonated so well with his situation.
It's only when I see gif sets later on that I realize the quality of the acting and the shots. Like the very first shot of this episode. It's so pretty, but so real, all at the same time!
