I mean, there must be money there. But does this Sherlock sound like he went to a public school? Is he from London originally? Any guesses? Theories?

Yes, JLM/Sherlock has a London accent, so I think there's a really good chance that's where he's from originally.

Sherlock also says in 1x03: "My father packed me off to boarding school when I was just eight years old."

I remember that bit. I wasn't entirely certain it would mean a public school in the English sense though. Don't they start with kids who are eleven?
