And I'm trying to work Holmes's father into a story.



I mean, there must be money there. But does this Sherlock sound like he went to a public school? Is he from London originally? Any guesses? Theories?

Similar to the US, you probably know each region of England has its own accent or dialect. Even London has multiple accents (Cockney, anyone?). And then there's Received Pronunciation (RP), or "the Queen's English." This is fairly close to what Sherlock's accent is (I think JLM uses his own accent here). He would've had it drilled in him since birth as he likely would've had a posh upbringing.

So I can assume he's posh at least. Money, good school... Presumably his father would be someone with influence.
