Sherlock tattoos himself and is ambidextrous.

Joan knows how to identify different writing styles. I wonder if we'll find out what else she's learned.

The dead guy in the tub was probably the grossest thing I think they've had so far all season.

Sherlock telling Joan about why he didn't want the chip was just... I wanted to give him a hug. He was so angry at himself for not being able to stay clean for that first day. That single day has probably haunted him the entire time.

The Sherlock and Gregson scene where Sherlock is talking about the murder he saw shows that they've worked out the differences they had.

I was pretty close in figuring out that the blackmailer was one of the people beign blackmailed, I just figured it was the one father we hadn't seen yet.

The ending got me choked up. I really like that poem. And there was Sherlock tattooing himself (so this means he knows all kinds of stuff about art too, to be able to design and draw on his own tattoos?) and Sherlock and Gregson both wanting to protect those girls from having the videos released, which was really sweet, and his story of not being able to stay sober his first day... it was a really good episode I thought. <3 (Although yeah, the guy in the bathtub was quite gross. Elementary usually isn't that graphic.)

I didn't notice it when watching live; I saw it in a gif set on Tumblr later, but it hit Sherlock RIGHT IN THE FEELS. *nods* Does that particular poem have meaning for him, or was he THAT MOVED by the act, I wonder?

Loved it. I called that Sherlock having a relapse was the reason he didn't want to accept the chip- but it didn't dull my enjoyment of the episode in the least, I think it actually made me like it more- obviously not because I'm in favor of Sherlock relapsing, but because watching him grapple with the issue of being betrayed by his own mind/resolve and struggling to admit it and utterly failing at conversation starting was just A+

I took it that the poem had meaning for him -- while his drug addiction may have been 'lovely, dark, and deep', he now has 'promises to keep' to Watson, Alfredo, Gregson, to himself... to stay sober. And he still has 'miles to go' in his continuing struggle to stay sober. Maybe that reading's too literal, but I did find it very moving and thought it fit the moment really well. I'm sure he was also moved that Joan had found something that resonated so well with his situation.

This show! This show. It just keeps on getting better and better. I'm loving the relationships between everyone. And pretty much everything.

What everyone else had said above, in addition to the fact they introduced a rape survivor as just an average person opening a door before we saw her backstory. It was an excellent way to show the audience that we don't know who around us has been sexually assaulted, just by looking.

It's only when I see gif sets later on that I realize the quality of the acting and the shots. Like the very first shot of this episode. It's so pretty, but so real, all at the same time!

Great point regarding survivors of sexual assault. You cannot tell just by looking at a person--or even knowing them for months, even years! It was a bit disturbing that they showed some of the clips, though, when Sherlock was going through the blackmailer's laptop.

This was an extremely ambitious episode in terms of the intensity of content (rape, blackmail, murder, chemical dependency). While it was quite serious and dramatic, much like the episode "M," the writers delivered great character moments--Alfredo and Sherlock and Joan--I CANNOT GET OVER IT. The way in which relationships are developed, respect is built and the ways in which bit by bit we see the characters trust each other more... When Sherlock decides to tell Joan first about the incorrect date of his sober anniversary--AH. When Alfredo confronts Sherlock and points out the value of a COMMUNITY for recovery.

Help! This show. ahhhhhh help.

Yes, I don't know what they were going for with the clips, probs a combination of "show, don't tell" and giving Miller more of a chance to display his has emotions but still is super-logical and processes everything version of Sherlock.
