Are links to live streams a thing we're allowed to ask for on here?

Oh my goodness! I didn't realize this was going to be a Bell-centric episode, and I'm so glad it was! Also, have we seen his arms before? Holy wow. Oh yes, and background, and development, and family <333 I liked the parallel between his brother trying to give him unwanted help, and Sherlock trying to give Joan unwanted help, heh. Family!

The scenes between Sherlock and Joan tonight were amazing. I wanted to punch him a lot harder than Joan's push in the beginning, he deserved it, but after that there was a perfect balance between humor and that emotional intensity they do so well. I just cannot get over how amazing Joan is. That very last part is probably my favorite scene from the whole show so far LOL

"Gregson and Sherlock seem to be... I don't know, off? Like they are tolerating one another, but their relationship is frayed around the edges and not what it was."

Yes and no -- I know what you mean - they're just not quite on the same talking level they were on before. But, when SH was talking to Bell after he 'lied' to Gregson about where the gun was found, he mentioned 'respect' several times in the same sentence and I think that's the key. SH respects Gregson, very much (almost like a father figure and perhaps in replacement of his own not very nice father), and despite what happened in M, Gregson does still respect SH.

And yes, JLM's grin after Joan hit him with the basketball was priceless - very cute!

I love that the theme of this episode was family. Bell's family, the NYPD family, and the brownstone family. All messed up, all beautiful. It was about love in a roundabout way.

JMH really impressed me with his acting tonight, and I gained sudden OT3 feels. It's so nice to see the crew grow closer, and that Sherlock/Joan confrontation we've been waiting for was played nicely.

Andre really impressed me too.

Can I just say I love the character dynamics here? Because that pretty much sums up my entire opinion of Elementary.

Such a lovely episode. Both the case and the interactions between the characters was perfect. Loved getting to learn more about Bell and his family. Really, Really loved Joan and Sherlock's various discussions throughout the episode, hilarious and poignant. They have such a rapport together, so much awesomness when they are in a room together.

Basically it was brillant!

Great episode!

I'm glad they've dealt with the "Joan lying and staying" issue. And it's completely in character for Sherlock to be more happy that she wanted to stay than upset that she lied about it.

And, yay Bell! It's nice to see episodes that focus characters other than Sherlock and Joan. As much as I love them and their dynamic and all, I think making the police a bigger part of the story, and making police officers fully fleshed-out characters is a good thing that recent versions of the stories have started doing (I like it in Sherlock, too). As long as Sherlock and Joan (and John in other versions) are going to work with the police, even only every once in while, it works better to have them be characters we know and can relate to rather than just random uniforms that Sherlock outsmarts and butts heads with.

Finally, as a friend said, we're over the hump, and Joan has accepted the role of Holmes's associate instead of his nanny. I'd have loved to have heard how her name came up in the conversation between Holmes and his father, and who mentioned her first.

Nice interaction between the two of them this time, from exasperated to earnest to sweet (with Joan looking appropriately thoughtful/almost fearful in evaluating Holmes's offer). I had to laugh at the silliness of the tennis ball attack and her ultimate payback with the cushion.

Holmes's shirts have been buttoned tightly up to the top in the past few shows, making him look a little choked and stiffer. This isn't a fun show for suit porn, though there was something fabulous going on with Aiden Quinn in one scene, wearing his shield at his belt.

It's nice that they're trying to give Bell a personality, finally, but the actor's still a lox. The bad guys and his brother were livelier, and I hope we get to see more of "Mr. Cheese." I was disappointed that the woman cop, especially as a boxer, wasn't going to be a new recurring character. I'd really like to see a woman detective or sergeant as a regular, filling out Gregson's staff.

Maybe we can look forward to seeing more of Gregson's life now, too?

Agreed. Having more women regulars would be nice. Joan is amazing, but she's the only female character who gets involved in the meat of the stories. Her therapist shows up from time to time, but isn't involved in the cases (nor should she be, of course). It'd be great to have a female cop or someone who actually interacts with Joan and Sherlock in the course of their cases.

The episode that had to be. I am glad they didn't drag the 'when will they close the partnership deal' out to the bitter end and found myself reviewing successful male/female TV partnerships of the past. Seriously, I hope they stop at 'I'm more focused with you around' and don't founder on the rocks of relationship. Did notice a couple of very unfortunate lines that could have come straight out of House's mouth. Writer's you can bring on Mrs. Hudson any time now. The cases are still weaker than the characters, but Andre's (Malcolm Goodwin) frustration and bitterness were palpable, and pulled that off for me in the end. The chemistry between characters and the details of New York continue to be wonderful, as are the shaded colors of Gregson's shirts.

Yes. A Mrs. Hudson at the brownstone -- even if she's the housekeeper, not the landlady, would be great.

Or maybe a Mr. Hudson. Those two are going to need a referee.

Last night'd episode was awesome! I really liked the interaction between Sherlock and Bell Holmes was in his way trying to tell the guy that he was on his side, (even if it didn't look like it at the time). Loved the honesty Sherlock showed when he asked Joam to stay. Yes indeed he is better with her!

Congrats on becoming a mod, bb!

This episode had so many gems. Lots of Bell, great Holmes/Bell interaction, Joan becoming Sherlock's associate. I was a little worried how the dynamic was gonna change when Joan wouldn't be under his father's employment but under his, but i's all on her terms and it seems such a natural transition.
